What is Forest Therapy?
Forest Therapy is a professionally guided practice that supports health and well-being by immersing participants in nature in a mindful, intentional way. Rooted in the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku (or "Forest Bathing"), it is a research-backed approach that helps reduce stress, enhance wellness, and deepen our connection with the natural world.
Unlike a hike or a naturalist walk, Forest Therapy is about slowing down, awakening the senses, and engaging with nature at a relaxed, meditative pace. A certified guide leads the experience, offering gentle invitations that help participants connect with their surroundings in a way that feels authentic to them. There’s no right or wrong way—just come as you are. Each session concludes with snacks and tea, using cultivated and wild-harvested plants from the forest.
The Benefits of Forest Therapy
Research from around the world has shown that Forest Therapy can:
✔ Reduce cortisol and adrenaline (stress hormones)
✔ Strengthen the immune system by boosting natural killer cells
✔ Improve heart and lung function
✔ Decrease anxiety and depression
✔ Enhance mood, focus, creativity, and even academic performance
Forest Therapy Guides are trained in Wilderness First Aid and are certified by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) to ensure a safe, meaningful, and enriching experience.
