Students in the Environmental Studies, Environmental Science and Certificate programs have a variety of career and educational goals. Many of them choose to continue their education beyond FRC, by transferring to other regional institutions.
Some Options Include:
- Humboldt State University is common next step for our students who wish to pursue four-year degrees in Wildlife, Forestry, Environmental Science and Management, Environmental Studies, Fisheries, etc.
- Chico State University is about 1.5 hours away from FRC and offers degrees in Environmental Sciences and Geography.
- University of Nevada, Reno is another regional school that offers degrees in Forestry, Eco Hydrology, and other related degrees.
- Other schools that have attract alums include UC Davis, UC Berkeley, and Sonoma State University.
Students will gain skills that will prepare them to work for federal and state agencies like the Forest Service, CALFIRE or California Fish and Wildlife; for private companies and contractors; and also for many non-profit organizations that work to advocate for and manage our natural landscapes and wild species.
Feather River College has multiple partnerships with local organizations to provide students with seasonal employment. Some of these opportunities include working with the Feather River Resource Conservation District, USFS, Plumas Audubon, Lost Sierra Food Project and more.
