Nieceä Freeman
Director of Talent Search, Advisor (Portola & Loyalton)
Niecea’s passion for this community and the roots that people have here runs deep. Eight generations of Niecea’s family have lived in Sierra Valley and she is the 4th generation to graduate from Loyalton High School. After attaining her B.S. in education and teaching abroad in Thailand and Czech Republic, as a part of the Fulbright U.S. Department of State Fellowship program, Niecea returned to the Valley. She is eager to support educational enrichment and opportunities in Sierra & Plumas County, knowing firsthand how difficult it can be to overcome the areas geographic isolation and the impact is has on families’ education and livelihood. Niecea worked as a classroom teacher in Downieville for 3 years (pop. 300), working on her Master's in Educational Leadership as Lead Teacher of the K-12 School. Niecea then transitioned Plumas County as the 7-8th and 11th-12th ELA instructor for 2 years before applying to FRC where, as a first-generation college student herself, she serves historically disadvantaged students in the pursuit of their higher education goals and career pathways.
