Position Description: The Sierra Institute for Community and Environment (Sierra Institute), in cooperation with the Lassen Volcanic National Park (LAVO) is hiring five Wilderness Fuels Module (WFM) crew members to serve on a crew performi fuels management in LAVO to promote future prescribed and/or managed fire activities in wilderness a non-wilderness areas of the park. This work will also directly contribute to increasing fire resiliency of critical habitat for Northern Goshawk and California Spotted Owl.
The Sierra Institute for Community and Environment (Sierra Institute) is hiring Collaborative Forestry Technicians to perform forestry work necessary to advance critical timber management and restoration treatment on public and private lands. Technicians may work on various projects being advanced by Sierra Institute in collaboration with diverse partners (USFS, NPS, private landowners, etc.). Work will include unit boundary marking, GPSing unit boundaries, marking and cruising timber, and delineating boundaries of hand thinning units.
Position Description: This opportunity is for a Temporary Conservation Technician position with the Feather River Resource Conservation District post-fire restoration on the Plumas National Forest (PNF), Mt. Hough Ranger District. Major duties include, but are not limited to, post-reforestation stocking surveys, hazardous fuels reduction, project layout, habitat and landscape restoration. There are two (2) to four (4) temporary positions for FRC students for the duration of ten (10) weeks from approximately mid-May to mid-August 2025.

Position Description: This opportunity is for a Seasonal Conservation Technician position to work primarily on post-fire restoration projects and on private and National Forest System lands on the Plumas National Forest (PNF), Mt. Hough Ranger District. Major projects include the Emergency Forest Restoration Team (EFRT), which aids Plumas County private landowners in restoring their property post fire, The Moonlight Fire Area Restoration Project, and the North Quincy Wildfire Resiliency Project. Position Description: The Stephens Wildland Fire lab at UC Berkeley is hiring for multiple seasonal positions on 2 field crews to conduct fire and forest ecology surveys in northern California for the summer of 2025. The Research Associate Program at GBI, in cooperation with American Forests, is recruiting 3 Natural Resources Reforestation Technician to directly contribute to a wide array of reforestation activities, with a large emphasis on cone monitoring and collection. The NR Reforestation Technician will receive hands-on experience in the field of reforestation with guidance from industry experts while contributing to American Forests and USFS National Forest efforts through assistance in evaluating cone crops and inspecting seed collection contracts, monitoring and inspecting site preparation and release treatments, laying out unit boundaries, and surveying prior reforestation projects and existing vegetation. Additional work may include, scouting and writing up unit descriptions and other NR-related work – which may include if interested some cross-training with wildlife and botany work.
