In this in-depth interactive assignment, you will follow alongside President Franklin Delano Roosevelt as he struggles to steer the United States through the treacherous international waters of the late 1930s to 1941. You will examine the international scene and the domestic situation through a serious of Decision Points in which you will be given the information and options available to the President. You will then be asked, “What would you do?” and you will have to choose from one of the options open to the President at the time. You will then be presented with the consequences of that choice compared to the actual of history of what the President decided to do. The “game” will then keep track of your choices and their results, and at the end will give you a report about how your decisions compared with that of President Roosevelt. Keep in mind that he made some decisions that were not necessarily the best ones. During much of this time, you’ll find that the majority of Americans and their political leaders wish to avoid war completely and not become involved in other people’s problems on the other side of the globe. But being President means having to defend the Constitution and the nation, and make decisions that have the best chance of keeping the United States safe and secure. This is never an easy task. And in the late 1930s, it was nearly impossible . . . are you up to the task? |
