What We Do

Scholarships

Feather River College's capacity to grant scholarships is a shining example of the generosity demonstrated by our dedicated donors. Scholarships act as a transformative force for our student body, unlocking educational opportunities that might have otherwise been unattainable. Beyond easing financial pressures, they ignite inspiration and drive in our students, propelling them towards their academic dreams with newfound determination. These scholarships, generously underwritten by our benefactors, stand as an investment in our students' and community's future, nurturing growth, excellence, and broader access to higher education.

Mini Grants

The Foundation's mini grants are instrumental in bolstering programs that align with our mission. We receive purposeful and enthusiastic proposals from departments, student groups, faculty, and staff. These proposals encompass a wide spectrum of initiatives, from enhancing horse show instruction and organizing captivating theater field trips to providing state-of-the-art outdoor gear and embracing innovative technology. We also support the publication of literary works and bring inspirational guest speakers from afar to enrich our community. Your support for these mini grants fuels the diverse and vibrant educational experiences we offer at Feather River College.

Community Host

Embracing the role of a Community Host, you commit your time and heart to offering vital support for one or two college students as they navigate the complexities of a new environment. Your warm and familiar presence serves as a cornerstone in smoothing their transition. It's noteworthy that numerous applicants express a strong preference to be paired with their friends, highlighting the significance of peer support. Equally important is the fact that there's minimal to no financial obligation on your part, as the program receives full funding and sponsorship from the Foundation, amplifying the profound impact of your generosity and guidance on these students.

Community Host Program

Host Students - Feather River College Foundation

Info for Hosts

As a Community Host, you volunteer your time to support one or two college kids who need a familiar face in their new environment. There is little to no financial commitment to the program, which is fully funded and sponsored by the FRC Foundation. You are there to help students transition to a rural community and college life. Cook a meal together, attend a FRC Athletics game, go to a community event together, or show them your favorite local swimming/hiking spot. Simply put – be these students’ connection to the community!

Info for Students

As a host student, you will be welcomed into the home of a local family. Hopefully you develop a meaningful connection to this local family and this connection assists with your transitioning to college and a small, rural community. Students usually become part of community hosts’ families and have the opportunity to meet some amazing people. Whether you are coming to FRC from abroad, or simply from out of the immediate area, the Community Host program is here to help students succeed at FRC!

"My experience with the community host program has been fantastic, both my host parents where welcoming and provided some great experiences, I would recommend any international to get involved, because it’s good to have someone else to talk to and someone who cares and will help you with any struggles that you may face being an international, plus my hosts make great food!"
